Milton recovery: heavy rain for some

Heavy rain for some
Recovery forecast post-Milton

Heavy rain may delay some recovery efforts this weekend as residents clean up from Hurricane Milton.

Hurricane Milton devastated much of Florida, producing storm surge, inland flooding, significant wind damage and a tornado outbreak. While the WeatherRadar shows improved weather conditions, heavy downpours may cause some delays over the weekend.

The WeatherRadar shows northeast flow aided by a high pressure system in the Appalachians. This will keep coastal conditions unsteady on Florida's east coast, where coastal flooding will remain an issue in cities like Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, Fla.

Showers and storms will also impact the Florida Peninsula on Saturday and Sunday. While the flash flood threat will mainly be centered in far southeast Florida, rain can cause issues in areas where water levels remain high after Milton's historic rainfall. Cities such as St. Petersburg picked up more than a foot and a half of rain from Milton.

The good news is that temperatures will remain comfortable by Florida standards. More than 2 million homes and businesses are without power, so the milder, the better. The TemperatureRadar shows highs in the low 80s and lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.
