Soggy end to the weekend for some

Remnants of Isaias
Soggy end to the weekend for some

While Isaias may have made landfall near Destin, Fla., Friday night, the hurricane's remnants will bring a soggy end to the weekend hundreds of miles away from the point of landfall.

Isaias may be no more, but the impacts are far from over. Heavy rain will spread into the central Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic on Sunday, bringing the threat of isolated flash flooding, especially in urban and low-lying areas. Parts of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania could see some of the heaviest rainfall.

Strong wind gusts will batter parts of the Mid-South and Mid-Atlantic, particularly along the southern Appalachians. Downed trees and power lines could cause scattered outages, especially at higher elevations. A few tornadoes are also possible across Virginia's Piedmont and Coastal Plain and North Carolina.

Meanwhile, dangerous surf and rip currents will continue along much of the Gulf Coast and southeastern Atlantic coast, even as Isaias moves farther away. Beachgoers should use caution and follow local advisories. Stay ahead of the storm with the WeatherRadar, where you can track the rain as it pushes north.
