Triple-digits
Record-smashing heat for the Northeast

Dozens of record highs are at risk in the Northeast today and tomorrow as a potent heat wave takes hold. Some major metropolitan areas will experience their hottest temperatures in more than a decade.

A dome of high pressure will keep things steamy east of the Mississippi early this week, with the TemperatureRadar showing highs in the 90s and 100s across much of the eastern half of the country today and tomorrow. Extreme heat will be an issue along the I-95 corridor, in particular.

Major cities like Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Raleigh, N.C., are expected to reach triple digits early this week. The last time both New York and Philadelphia saw triple-digits was on July 18, 2012. Boston's last 100-degree high was on July 24, 2022.

It's not just hot afternoon temperatures that are a concern. Warm nights in the 70s and 80s make it difficult to cool down, especially for those without access to air conditioning. High humidity levels will also impact these areas, making the heat even more dangerous.
