90-Minute lightning view
Your LightningRadar just got an upgrade

Weather & Radar is excited to announce a significant upgrade to your LightningRadar, now providing an even more comprehensive view of storm activity.

Whether you're working outdoors or attending an event, you can rely on the LightningRadar to keep you informed about the weather in real-time, anywhere across the globe.

lightning radarThe image on the left displays WeatherRadar, while the right features LightningRadar, which provides real-time lightning observations and tracks activity up to 90 minutes past.

The latest upgrade to the LightningRadar now extends the visibility of lightning activity to the past 90 minutes, significantly expanding from the previous 15-minute window. This enhancement gives you a broader and more detailed perspective on storm history and movement, increasing your ability to track developments and stay safe.

How to read the map:

Color Coding: Lightning strikes are displayed as yellow dots. The color intensity indicates the age of the strikes—new strikes are highlighted with a red border that gradually fades to lighter shades of red, orange, and yellow as they age. If you are still unsure about what each colors mean, tap the information icon to view the legend for a graphical explanation of the hues.

Additionally, as you monitor the LightningRadar, you'll notice white circles emanating from the most recent strikes. These circles represent the thunder sound waves produced when lightning hits the surface, aiding in tracking the movement of thunderstorms.
