The storm that we had been predicting all week moved through the Northeast, leaving a snowy Saturday night with some areas receiving a mix of snow and rain.

The winter storm produced high snowfall Saturday afternoon and evening over inland areas of the Northeast. Cities like Worcester, in western Massachusetts, recorded a little more than 9 inches of snow. Through 8:30 a.m., the highest accumulations, about a foot, were recorded from east central New York state, passing through southwestern and east central Massachusetts.

The Big Apple accumulated about a half inch of snow before it mixed with rain. This same mix will continue through the afternoon, with little snow accumulating. Once the sun sets, precipitation will diminish.

Some accidents were recorded on the roads.

Strong winds were recorded, especially in the coastal area, and it is expected that the winds will remain strong and rotate from the north, which will bring a quick drop in temperatures during Sunday afternoon.

Cold air filters in Sunday afternoon across New York Cold air filters in Sunday afternoon across New York while the precipitation diminishes. Rounds of heavy snow still possible for the eastern part of New England.

Another system brushes the Northeast on Sunday afternoon.

In Boston our Weather Map shows a round of intense snow, due to another system that will brush the extreme Northeast of the country. It is this same system that will cause precipitation to continue until this evening.

With the night clearing, we will lose that “blanket of clouds”. We forecast a fairly cold night for New York City, dropping to the 30s and lows, early Monday morning, inland in the 20s. But the wind will make these temperatures feel colder.
