Stormy West continues through weekend

After a very active week from the Pacific Northwest to California, more rain, gusty winds and mountain snow will define the weekend.

Storm after storm has impacted the West this last week and it doesn't stop there. Low-pressure systems sending plentiful moisture in from the Pacific will keep many western residents under their umbrellas this weekend or truck drivers with their snow chains on.

The storm impacting the West this morning is still the same one from Friday. Heavy rain will continue from northwest Washington to the Los Angeles Metro in southern California today while the Sierras, Cascades and northern Rockies receive the wintry side of things in the form of wet snow. Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings are still active.

By Sunday, the energy from this first storm will shift inland and storm number two arrives early, before sunrise. The Pacific Northwest is the first to receive the second round of heavy rain and mountain snow and by lunchtime, northern California will have been involved since breakfast.

The train of storms from this past week has left behind very saturated ground and a fragile power grid thanks to fallen trees. Expect more power outages, heavy wet snow making travel tough and more flooding to take place, especially in northern California.
