All weekend long
Multi-day severe threat for the Plains

Wekend severe storms could move outside plans indoors.WeatherRadar: Plains and Midwest severe storms could move outside plans indoors.

A long stretch of severe weather chances kicks off this weekend for the Plains, with tornadoes, damaging gusts and large hail expected. Heavy rain could also cause flash flooding.

While isolated severe storms are possible on Friday from northeast New Mexico to Springfield, Mo., more scattered severe storms kick off Saturday afternoon. West Texas to Nebraska could see the skies start bubbling up in the mid-afternoon hours, local time, as seen on the WeatherRadar.

These storms last well into the overnight hours and into Sunday. Their remnants will act as a trigger for the next round of severe storms, slightly shifted east. South Texas to Minnesota are in for isolated to scattered severe storms, with a focus on Wichita, Kan., Oklahoma City and Abilene, Texas, metro areas.

Spring has many people spending much more time outdoors. It's important to have your eyes on the sky and the WeatherRadar this weekend if you have outdoor plans.

The severe weather stretch continues well into the coming week for the Plains and the Midwest. Now is the time to finalize severe weather plans for your home and family.
