Tropical trouble?
Area to watch this weekend

An area of low pressure is expected to develop this weekend off Florida's Big Bend. The question is: will this mean tropical trouble for the Southeast?

By Saturday, both the WindRadar and the WeatherRadar show a low-pressure system off the northwestern coast of Florida.

While the National Hurricane Center gives this area a low chance of development, tropical downpours and gusty winds may impact Florida and Georgia over the weekend and into next week.

The long-term trends show an uptick in rain and storms in cities like Tallahassee and Jacksonville, Fla., Savannah, Ga., and Charleston, S.C., through the end of the weekend and into early next week.

While it's too soon to tell if a named tropical system will develop, there's an increasing chance that parts of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina will experience tropical downpours. Should a tropical system develop, our hurricane alerts will keep you up to date on the latest.
