In Germany Bavaria on Christmas night, mysterious pillars of light appeared in the night sky. These atmospheric light effects are halos.

Here, the light from street lamps are reflected by the countless ice crystals in the air. This rare phenomenon usually only occurs at very low temperatures. This part of Germany was in the teens at the time.
