Big cold front
Temps 15-degrees below average

Cooler-than-average highs on Wednesday across the great Lakes and interior Northeast.
Cooler-than-average highs on Wednesday across the Great Lakes and interior Northeast.

After triggering severe storms across the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, a large cold front is ushering in cool Canadian air. High temperatures in the 60s and low 70s are bringing an autumn preview for many.

High temperatures from Mansfield, Ohio, to Jamestown, Penn., could tie or break records as old as 79 years as the mercury only makes it into the upper 60s on Wednesday. Average high temperatures in late July are usually in the 80s for these parts of the lower Great Lakes.

The refreshing blast of cooler air will be present for many throughout the Great Lakes on Wednesday and into the interior Northeast. The TemperatureRadar shows temperatures only as high as the upper 70s.

The cool air reaches as far south as the Mid-Atlantic and interior Carolinas for the latter half of the week too. The TemperatureRadar shows highs only getting into the 70s and low 80s. Raleigh, N.C., could break a record older than 100 years with a forecast in the mid-70s on Thursday.
