Big East trouble: Gusty deluge with big temp drops

The same massive spring-like storm system bringing severe storms from Texas to the Southeast to blizzard conditions to the Upper Midwest will sweep across the South and East Wednesday. Here are tools you can use to track this system's eastern push.

The WeatherRadar shows heavy rain moving across the Northeast while lines of thunderstorms stretch from the Mid-Atlantic into the Southeast and across northern Florida. This system brought powerful storms to Texas earlier Tuesday.

Make sure alerts are turned on for this system, because the heavy rain, combined with significant snow melt, brings an increased flood risk across eastern Great Lakes into upstate New York. Across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, dangerous storms could produce damaging wind gusts and even an isolated tornado.

The tight spinning pinwheel of this spring storm is visible on the WindRadar. Winds in excess of 45 mph stretch from Kansas City to Washington and New York City.

Typical of spring storms, big temperatures will occur. Warm air ahead of the system will bring 50s and 60s into East and South, while winter's cold air is pulled southward across the Upper Midwest and Midwest.
