Big tornado, flooding threat in TX, LA

Intense severe storms and a flood threat extend from eastern Texas to western Mississippi. Tornadoes, damaging winds, large hail, and flooding are all ahead. This live blog will be updated throughout the day on Tuesday to bring the latest information.

Significant flooding has been taking place across northeastern Texas and northwestern Louisiana in the last 24 hours. Many streets are experiencing flooding, accidents are backing up traffic, and even drivers are running off roadways.

Not to be outdone, power outages are picking up across northeast Texas and we'll see this continue as the rain and severe weather hit this afternoon and evening.

Another tornado watch is in effect for eastern Texas including Tyler, Longview, and Lufkin, as well as western Louisiana including Shreveport and Monroe.

As we head closer to the end of the day, many will have to keep a close eye on the radar and to the sky. Don't rely on tornado sirens for a warning.

The severe weather threat will last through the afternoon commute and into the evening hours, with the flooding rains as the "cherry" on top. It will be very important to keep a close eye on the WeatherRadar before you hit the roads.

Flood watches and warnings extend from eastern Texas through the Deep South of Alabama as this storm system slowly meanders across the South. Be extra careful while driving as the storms are training over plentiful moisture, where the energy is waiting to drop up to 8 inches of rain locally.

A tornado watch has been issued for big Texas cities along Interstate 35. Waco, Austin, and College Station are all within the watch, but those just north of San Antonio and just southwest of Tyler, Texas need to be on alert as well.
