Breakfast brief
Another stormy week ahead

Breakfast briefing

Another batch of severe storms will sweep across the central U.S. to start the new work week, with hot weather spreading into more of the East.

1957 Kansas City twister

On this day in 1957, a tornado swept across the Kansas City suburbs, killing 45 people as it traveled 71 miles. A check picked up by the tornado was found in Iowa, 165 miles away.

Today's weather outlook

The WeatherRadar is showing a new storm system moving out of the Rockies organizing over the north-central Plains and into the Midwest. This will be the location for today's severe storms, generally from northeastern Colorado eastward into the Upper Midwest. Damaging winds will be the biggest threat.

Monday's preview
Severe storms will roll across the central Plains.

The rest of the U.S. will have a warm to hot start to the work week. The East and South will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s, while the Southwest and southern Florida will see temperatures in the low 90s. The Western U.S. will be a bit chilly with highs in the 60s and low 70s.
