Breakfast brief
Severe weather returns to Plains

Severe weather returns to the Plains today and tomorrow as fast-moving disturbances move in from the West.

Coldest April temperature on record

The temperature at Eagles Nest, NM, plunged to 45 degrees below zero to establish an April record for the United States.

Today's weather outlook

The WeatherRadar shows an active pattern in the forecast for today. The Northwest remains wet, with snow reaching mountain peaks. As this energy moves east, severe storms will break out in the northern Plains this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds, large hail, and even a few tornadoes are possible in some of the same areas ravaged by severe weather last week and over the weekend.
