Spring break trouble
Brushfire severs link to Florida Keys

Travelers wanting to spend spring break in the Florida Keys will have trouble getting there after a brush fire closed U.S. 1 for the third day.

This week, dry conditions and blustery winds have created high fire danger in southern Florida. A bushfire that started Tuesday in southern Miami-Dade County has grown to 22,000 acres and is only 20 percent contained.

The WindRadar shows gusts upward of 30 mph continuing into Thursday evening across the Florida Peninsula, keeping fire danger high into the evening.

The smoke from the fire is also contributing to air quality concerns. Those in sensitive groups will want to check our air quality tool before heading out.
