Central plains severe threat

A severe storm threat will bubble up over parts of the central Plains this afternoon and tonight, bringing the risk of large hail and damaging winds.

Severe storms are possible later today across portions of the central Plains. Today's threat focuses on portions of Kansas, southeast Nebraska and northwest Missouri. Strong storms will fire up later this afternoon and continue into the evening and overnight.

The WeatherRadar shows the severe threat impacting cities such as Topeka, Kan., St. Joseph, Mo., and Lincoln, Neb. Damaging winds are possible, but large hail will be the main threat. An isolated tornado will also be possible.
