Cooler temps follow
Soggy, stormy Midwest tonight

A large storm system will trigger isolated severe storm and flash flood activity in the Midwest overnight.

Get ready to tie down those Halloween decorations for tonight's light show - a lightning show that is. Severe weather chances are in store for the Midwest.

Low pressure moving across the Plains today will trigger late-evening rain and isolated severe thunderstorms for places like Des Moines, Iowa, and Kansas City, Mo.

The WeatherRadar shows things kicking off around dinner time as the disturbance moves east into the Midwest. Damaging winds and hail are both possible, so be sure to tie down any autumn or Halloween decorations before this evening.

Not to be outdone, heavy rainfall could lead to isolated flash flooding. An inch to an inch and a half could pile up quickly. Monitor the road conditions if you're out and about tonight. Make sure your weather alerts are switched on in the app so you're on top of any wet or stormy weather.

Take a look at the TemperatureRadar. By Friday and Saturday, cooler temperatures will settle in behind the storm system. Plan your weekend activities based on the cooler weather! Pumpkin patch, anyone?
