Cooler temps too
Wet system hits the South

A cold front is starting to bring showers to the southern Plains and lower Mississippi Valley today. Rain will fill in along it all the way to the Mid-Atlantic and southward overnight through Wednesday.

Umbrellas are up for many in the southern Plains today, and many will be waiting by the door for Wednesday's AM commute from Houston to Virginia Beach, Va. A cold front coming up against, with abundant warm, water-laden air across the South, bringing much-needed rain for many.

Tuesday evening commuters in places like Midland, Houston and Wichita Falls, Texas, as well as Little Rock, Ark., and Memphis, Tenn., will need to keep an eye out for rain.

The rain spreads eastward overnight, possibly awakening light sleepers in Nashville and Knoxville, Tenn., Birmingham, Ala., and Atlanta. By the AM commute, rain will be found on the WeatherRadar from Shreveport, La., and Little Rock, Ark., to Virginia Beach, Va., Raleigh, N.C., and Savannah, Ga.

Cooler air is moving in behind the cold front, bringing high temperatures down in places like St. Louis, Louisville, Kent., and Memphis and Nashville by as much as 20 degrees on Wednesday!
