Daily briefing
Pattern shift to kick off the weekend

We're watching multiple storm systems make their way into the U.S., bringing rain, gusty winds, mountain snow and even some thunder activity. Flash flooding is expected to occur in the Southwest, especially in Arizona. This, along with our tropical update, is available at 5 a.m. ET in our daily briefing.

There is plenty to see on the WeatherRadar today as we round out the week. Starting in the east, what could become the season's first Nor'easter is developing along the Southeast Coast. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will expand further onto land as the day progresses and the low pressure organizes more. As heavy rain spreads, isolated instances of flash flooding are possible from Miami to Wilmington, N.C.

A low-pressure system is slowly organizing off the Southeast Coast, which will impact the East Coast as a Nor'easter through the weekend.

The Upper Midwest and upper Great Lakes will see a wet low pressure move across the area today. Morning thunderstorms could slow the commute from Kansas City to Milwaukee as a cold front spreads south and east. The Chicago Metro area will see isolated to scattered rainfall throughout today, too, lasting through the first half of the night.

Moisture aided by weakening Tropical Storm Priscilla could cause flash flooding across the Southwest, Four Corners and the central and southern Rockies today. The wet weather started yesterday afternoon, but will expand even more today, as seen on the WeatherRadar. Have your alerts switched on in the app.

Finally, the same low pressure that has been impacting the Pacific Northwest and northern California with rain and mountain snow will continue to do so today before moving inland this weekend. Keep an eye on the WeatherRadar today to know when the heaviest rain will move in.

As for today's highs, 60s and low 70s will spread from the northern Plains to the East Coast, except for Florida, where the mercury will reach the mid-70s to the upper 80s. Highs in the 80s will be found across the Deep South and the central and southern Plains, with southern Texas and the Southwest staying warmest in the upper 80s and 90s.

The West will have a mixture of autumn and summery feels. The immediate West Coast will stay cool in the 60s and low 70s, while those in the High Plains down to SoCal will be warmer in the mid 70s and upper 80s. Have a look at the TemperatureRadar for your local details.

Tropical Update

Tropical Storm Jerry will be bringing gusty winds and heavy rains to the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico this morning and will slowly turn north today, well east of the Bahamas and away from the U.S..
