Daily briefing
An active Friday

Both coasts are going to an active end to the work week as two big systems roll through. In between, it will be quieter. This is included in today's daily briefing published every weekday at 5 a.m. ET.

Today's biggest storm system will extend from Florida to New England. The WeatherRadar shows the system sweeping heavy rain across the East Coast this morning. In its wake, it will bring snow to Great Lakes and interior New England.

The second system will be rolling across the West Coast. Another big rainmaker is bringing heavy rain from northern California into the Northwest, with some of the downpours making it into the Intermountain Region and northern Great Basin. Snow will fall across the Cascades and northern Rockies too.

Outside of a clipper bringing quick snow to the Dakotas, the rest of the U.S. will have a quiet Friday.

Today's highs, as seen on the TemperatureRadar, will range from frigid teens and 20s in the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest to 70s across the Southwest, southern Texas and Florida. 30s and 40s will be found across the rest of the Midwest, central Mississippi Valley and the Northwest while dropping temperatures spead across the East Coast and Ohio Valley.
