Daily briefing
Cold front triggers rain, snow & winds

A cold front stretching from north to south will trigger rain, gusty winds and snow. Additionally, a low-pressure system will move into the West Coast. The daily briefing is published every weekday at 5 a.m. ET.

The WeatherRadar shows snow across the northern tier, from the Dakotas to the Northeast. Rain will stretch from the lower Ohio Valley through the Gulf Coast.

Gusty winds accompany this storm system, with the highest gusts expected across the northern and central Plains.

Wednesday's gusts.WindRadar: Wednesday's gusts across the Plains and into the Ohio Valley & Mid-Atlantic.

The West has been warm and quiet, but a low-pressure system moving into the California Coast will trigger isolated showers. Watch the WeatherRadar if you have plans.

Highs will be slightly more mild across the U.S. compared to Tuesday. The coldest highs will be found where much of the snow is. The northern tier through the Northeast will only be in the 20s and 30s. The 40s will stretch from the Mountain West through the Mid-Atlantic. Warmer 50s and 60s are expected from California to the southern Plains and down to Florida, but the warmest 70s will be found in southern Texas and central and southern Florida.
