Daily briefing
Northwest turns soggy, again

The new work week kicks off with plenty of wintry weather across the U.S. The main focus remains in the Pacific Northwest, where another big Pacific storm rolls ashore. This is included in today's daily briefing, published every weekday at 5 a.m. ET.

The Northwest cannot catch a break from the recent heavy rain. The WeatherRadar shows a new batch of downpours arriving today, moving inland west to east. This system will hit more of the coast than previous systems, with rain extending as far south as northwestern California.

The only other trouble today will be found across the Great Lakes and into the Northeast. A quick burst of snow is possible today as a combination a quick moving system and lake-effect snow.

The rest of the U.S. will be quiet with early winter sunshine dominating most places.

The TemperatureRadar shows the Northeast and Midwest remained locked in frigid temperatures with highs only in the 20s and low 30s. On the flip side, southern California, the Southwest and southern Florida will be in the low to mid-70s. Elsewhere, it will be in the 40s and 50s, with a few 60s across the Western High Plains.
