Dangerous waves crash on Calif. Coast

A powerful Pacific storm brought life-threatening surf to the Pacific Coast on Monday. In Santa Cruz, Calif., massive waves crashed across the cliffs. More big waves are in the forecast.

A series of Pacific Storms will impact the West Coast into Christmas. Yesterday's approaching storm storm brought dangerous waves and rip currents to the entire Pacific Coastline. Waves up to 40 feet were spotted in Santa Cruz, Calif. The WeatherRadar shows heavy rain impacting the West Coast, with heavy snow in the mountains.

While there will be a break in the action on Christmas morning, another powerful storm will move in by the afternoon. The WeatherRadar shows this active pattern lasting through the end of the week. More than 2-4 inches of rain are possible through tomorrow, with 6-12 inches of snow in the Sierra.

Dangerous surf and sneaker waves will continue to be concerns along the Pacific Coast. While the waves will not be as high as yesterday, dangerous conditions will persist. Check out local beach conditions with our marine conditions forecast.
