Deep South Texas
Rainy stretch, flash flood risk

A trough over northern Mexico and a developing coastal low-pressure system will be interacting with a cold front bringing an active stretch with showers and storms over the Deep South of Texas.

Cloud cover will continue to increase on Thursday afternoon and with the clouds also come showers, some of which will be heavy. They will generally move from south to north. A course from the southeast to the northeast will be most likely during the afternoon and evening.

Cold front will move over Central Texas on Saturday morning and bring better conditions for Sunday.Cold front will move over Central Texas on Saturday morning and bring better conditions for Sunday.

The upper-level low-pressure system will be moving from the west and will allow a low-pressure system to form near the coast on Friday, prompting showers to continue affecting the Rio Grande Valley.

Some showers may bring flash flooding tonight into Friday. Rain totals can vary between a half to 1.5 inches. Please avoid crossing flooded areas. Rivers and streams can rise quickly and overflow.

By Saturday the cold front will be moving over southern Texas and will help sweep away all the instability, but the showers will not stop until late at night. More stable conditions, like plenty of sunshine and cool temperatures, are expected on Sunday.
