North to South
Dramatic temperature difference

If you look at our TemperatureRadar, you'll see a dramatic temperature split between the North and South. Cold air remains trapped in the north while record highs dot the South.

The WeatherRadar shows plenty of action across the Pacific Northwest and Northeast today, but head south, and high pressure takes charge. Sunshine and record heat will be the big story across the southern tier today.

The TemperatureRadar shows highs in the 80s across the Desert Southwest into the southern Plains. The Southeast will see highs in the 70s, while South Florida will warm into the 80s. Even the Mid-Atlantic will see above-average temperatures in the 60s.

Numerous record highs will be possible today, stretching across the southern tier. Cities like Tucson, Ariz., Albuquerque, N.M., Dallas, Houston, and Lexington, Ky., could tie or break their record highs today. The TemperatureRadar shows these above-average temperatures lingering across the southern tier through at least mid-week.
