Dreaming of a white Halloween?

New Ulm, Minn., via the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Folks in Minnesota are experiencing some chilling weather this Halloween, with snow accumulation showing up on Minnesota Department of Transportation cameras in New Ulm. But how common is a white Halloween?

The WeatherRadar is showing snow falling in New Ulm and Minneapolis. It looks like it will be a white Halloween for parts of Minnesota. However, across much of the Lower 48, the chances of seeing a white Halloween are quite slim.

In the Lower 48, the highest odds of a white Halloween are in the highest elevations of the northern and central Rockies. Spots west of Denver, near Yellowstone National Park and northwestern Wyoming, have a 25% to 50% chance of having at least an inch of snow on the ground on Halloween.

The rest of the Rockies have around a 10% to 25% chance of a white Halloween. Parts of the Cascades, northern Plains, northern Minnesota and Michigan's Upper Peninsula have a 10% to 25% odds of a white Halloween.

The rest of the lower 48 has slim chances of a white Halloween, typically 10% or less, with much of the South being virtually snow-free on Halloween over the last 40 years. If you want to know whether a white Halloween is in your forecast, check out the WeatherRadar.
