Dynamic storm finally moves out today, but not before bringing rain and snow to Northeast

Rain and snow for NE
Dynamic storm finally moves out

The dynamic winter storm that pummeled the eastern U.S. this weekend is finally moving out. However, before the low exits, rain and snow are in store for the Northeast.

It was a busy weekend as a powerful winter storm brought rain, wind, and snow across the eastern half of the country. In total, there were 35 tornado reports, more than 5 inches of rain, and 8 inches of snow as this system rolled through and it's not done yet.

The WeatherRadar shows lingering rain and snow in the Northeast as the powerful system that brought this weekend's destructive weather continues to push east. While conditions are calming down, lingering snow, rain, and wind may still cause travel delays in the Northeast.

Snowy Northeast

Lingering rain in eastern Maine may lead to some flash flooding. A slight risk, a level two out of four of excessive rain, is in place for this area and includes Bangor, Maine. Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in place in interior Maine, northern New Hampshire, northern Vermont, and western New York, where additional inches of snow will accumulate through this afternoon.

Wind will also continue to whip along the northeastern seaboard. Eastern Maine, including the cities of Lubec and Machias, will see winds gusting up to 60 mph into the evening hours. Keep an eye on the WindRadar for the latest.

The good news is that much more tranquil conditions are in play by tomorrow. However, colder-than-average air is expected to move in, so check out conditions on our TemperatureRadar before heading out.
