Easter weekend severe threat

Severe storms will threaten parts of the Plains and Mid-South over the holiday weekend. Early Saturday morning, a possible tornado damaged utility poles and vehicles in Springdale, Ark.

The WeatherRadar shows storms firing up from Texas to New York today, with severe weather possible for some. Large hail is the main threat in cities like Abilene and Dallas, Texas, Fort Smith and Fayetteville, Ark., and Springfield, Mo. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes are possible.

A significant flood threat is also building from north-central Texas to southern Missouri, where 2-4 inches of rain is expected, with some spots receiving 6 inches or more locally.

Rain totals through Sunday.

More severe storms are possible on Easter Sunday from east Texas to Missouri and Illinois. Damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes are possible. Keep an eye on the WeatherRadar, especially if you have outdoor plans.
