Flash flooding in Kansas City

It's been an active month for flash flooding across the U.S., with more than 1,200 reports in the first half of the month. Overnight, waters rose quickly in Kansas City, stranding vehicles.

The WeatherRadar shows a deluge moving through the Kansas City metro overnight into this morning. Cars were stranded and roads were closed after 3 to 7 inches of rain fell across the metro.

Flash flooding has been a significant issue this month, with over 1,200 reports from July 1 to 15. This represents a 75 percent increase over the average.
