Flash floods swamp parts of New Mexico

Deadly flash flooding closed roads and led to hundreds of rescues over the weekend in New Mexico.

Hundreds were rescued and two killed as torrential downpours led to significant flash flooding across portions of New Mexico over the weekend. The worst of the flash flooding occurred in the Roswell, N.M. area. The video above shows a truck stuck in floodwaters in nearby Hagerman, N.M.

The WeatherRadar showed powerful thunderstorms pushing through New Mexico over the weekend, bringing those dangerous heavy downpours. Roswell, N.M., set a new all-time daily record rainfall of 5.78". This breaks the previous record of 5.65" from Nov. 1, 1901.

The good news is that the WeatherRadar shows dry conditions for the next few days. Now is an excellent time to check if your Weather & Radar app alerts are on.
