Flood emergencies and severe storms

Catastrophic rain triggered flood emergencies in Arkansas and west Tennessee, with parts of Dawson Springs, Ky., underwater on Saturday. Powerful tornado-warned storms ripped through Mississippi.

The severe weather and flash flood event that has been going on since last week continued on Saturday. Unfortunately, 16 people have lost their lives due to severe storms and flooding.

The city of Dawson Springs, Ky., was underwater on Saturday after torrential downpours triggered flash flooding. Relentless storms brought extreme flooding to parts of Arkansas and west Tennessee on Saturday. Rivers and tributaries will continue to rise, bringing more flooding into next week.

The WeatherRadar also showed severe storms slamming parts of Mississippi and Alabama. A tornado was spotted in New Albany, Miss. The video below shows the footage of the tornado-warned storm as it pushed through the region.

There were four reported tornadoes on Saturday, 78 reports of destructive winds and five reports of large hail.
