Flood threat grows for Southwest

The flood threat for the Southwest will grow today as the remnants of Tropical Storm Mario bring an influx of tropical moisture to the region.

The WeatherRadar shows the remnants of Tropical Storm Mario drawing tropical moisture toward southern coastal California, increasing the chance of locally heavy thunderstorms today and Friday. Rainfall amounts could reach 1 to 3 inches, with rainfall rates over 1 inch per hour.

Flash flooding is possible, especially in areas with burn scars or in urban areas. Much of southern California is at risk, so stay alert!

New Mexico and Arizona are also expected to experience more showers and thunderstorms through Friday. These areas also face a risk of localized flash flooding.
