Footage from Switzerland - Extreme glacier melting in Switzerland

The glaciers in the Alps are currently melting at a record pace. Weeks of heat, Saharan dust, and rain up to the highest altitudes are the cause.

After the extreme melting years of 2022 and 2023, there is also a threat of severe glacier melting this year too.

This is despite the fact that there was still around 30% more snow in the Swiss Alps at the end of May than the long-term average.
