After a brief break, another shot of winter's chill will make it as far south as Florida and with more Arctic air refreezing the East by this weekend.

The WeatherRadar shows a cold front triggering heavy showers in the Southeast today. Behind this cold front is a blast of cold air that will bring below-average temperatures to Florida briefly tonight into Saturday morning. More iguanas are forecast to become cold-stunned.

On Friday, the newest Arctic air mass - originating from Russia - will start spilling into the Upper Midwest, reaching the Ohio Valley, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Carolinas by Saturday and Sunday. Weekend high temperatures will be as cold as 20 degrees below normal, keeping those furnaces running non-stop.

Cold temperature records as old as 90 years could be tied or broken. Watch the TemperatureRadar and note the white to purple colors to find the coldest spots.
