From Texas to Michigan: 1,800 miles of rain

From Texas to Michigan
1,800 miles of rain

October is kicking off with a soaking autumn rain extending from Texas' Rio Grande Valley to the Great Lakes. This more than 1,800 miles of rain is bringing beneficial drought relief, along with an increased flood danger.

The rain is the same system we alerted you about on Tuesday. It is a combination of former Hurricane Polo from the eastern Pacific and a cold front diving south of Canada. This whole system is tapping tropical moisture from the eastern Pacific.

The WeatherRadar shows heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms moving slowly, producing hours of heavy rain. Flash flooding is possible across Texas and parts of the central Plains, while the rain helps alleviate some drought conditions there.
