From depression to storm
Tropical storm sets its sights on Hong Kong

A tropical depression is currently forming over the western Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Philippines.

The new tropical storm season is beginning over the tropical ocean regions. A first storm is currently forming off the coast of the Philippines as a tropical depression. It is intensifying into a tropical storm and is expected to hit the metropolis of Hong Kong over the weekend.

It is not yet clear exactly where the storm will head. However, there are many indications that it will develop into the first typhoon of the new season over the South China Sea and will at least graze Hong Kong.

A tropical depression is also forming off the coast of Florida. However, it is still unclear whether it will intensify into a tropical storm or even the first Atlantic hurricane of the season.
