Severe storms target Plains

A brand new storm system will sweep across the central Plains, rolling off of the Rockies and trigger severe storms which could include hail, damaging gusts and tornadoes on Saturday. Flash flooding could be an issue as well.

While isolated severe storms are possible from southeastern Montana down to Oklahoma and Missouri, scattered to multiple severe storms are expected for places like McCook and Lincoln, Neb., Kansas City, Mo., and Colby, Wichita and Liberal, Kan.

These severe storms are expected during Saturday afternoon and through the overnight hours, posing an extra risk of nocturnal storms. Keeping your notification volume up will be important in case a nocturnal tornado spins up.

Keep an eye on the WeatherRadar throughout the day, especially if you have outdoor plans. As heavy downpours move through, especailly overnight, many may be waking up Sunday morning to flash flooding. Remember, turn around, don't drown.
