Gulf Coast
Flooding rains before the hurricane

Heavy rains are already falling in Florida, but Isaias will bring more plus flooding risks for the Gulf Coast.
Heavy rains are already falling in Florida, but Isaias will bring more plus flooding risks for the Gulf Coast.

A stationary front has soaking rains locked in place across Florida. These tropical downpours have brought elevated water levels recently, but the wet weather is far from over. The front is associated with Tropical Storm Isaias, which is bringing even more.

The hotspot for flooding rains is the northern Tampa Bay area today, with most of central and northern Florida getting up to 2.5 inches through Thursday.

In the southern Gulf, Tropical Storm Isaias is feeding off of the stationary front as well, and as it zips northward over the latter half of the week, even more tropical rain will pile up, but with more focus on the Florida Panhandle and into the central Gulf Coast.

The WeatherRadar shows heavy downpours and storm impacts from Isaias starting Friday as the front finally begins to move.
