Gusts to 60 mph
Clipper to produce gusty cross-winds

Gusty cross-winds could cause travel issues today, especially for high-profile vehicles.Gusty cross-winds could cause travel issues today, especially for high-profile vehicles.

A clipper system moving across the northern tier isn't only sending rain and snow through the Plains and Midwest, but also gusty winds topping 60 mph for some.

The WindRadar clearly shows the low-pressure system and its accompanying cold front moving across the northern tier today. Wednesday morning gusts are already in the 50 to 60 mph range in the northern High Plains.

Travelers, especially those going along Interstate 94 and southward in North Dakota through western Nebraska and along Interstate 35 in Iowa, will encounter dangerous cross-winds up to 60 mph. This is already on top of sustained winds of at least 20 mph.

Winds will subside through the night as the low pressure shifts east, with the cold front triggering rain and some stormy weather through the late-afternoon and overnight hours.

Watch the WindRadar if you will be on the roads, especially if you drive a high-profile vehicle.
