Major floods reported in Cancún

Heavy rain from Hurricane Helene led to significant flooding in parts of Mexico’s Quintana Roo on Wednesday, September 25.

Footage shared by Governor Mara Lezama shows vehicles stranded in deep floodwaters in Cancún, prompting authorities to urge residents to remain indoors unless it is absolutely necessary.

As of 3:30 p.m. local time, Helene was moving north-northwest with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph and is expected to strengthen as it progresses over the Gulf of Mexico.

For Florida, conditions are likely to deteriorate further today and tomorrow. Authorities advise that all storm preparations be completed by tonight. Use the link below to read the latest forecast update from our team of meteorologists.
