How to sleep better in the heat

With July heat in full swing, it can be difficult to sleep well. Here are some tips to help you drift off comfortably.

Firstly it is important to keep hydrated. This will help you sleep as dehydration can cause bouts of insomnia. Make sure you also keep a glass of water next to the bed to reduce risk of dehydration.

Before heading to bed, open your windows. This will allow cooler air to enter your bedroom. If you do continue to feel warm, however, use a fan or even sleep downstairs where it will be slightly cooler.

In addition, think about what you wear to bed and whether you have a thick duvet on. You might just want to sleep under a sheet.

We'll be seeing more recording breaking heat in the night too over the next few days across the U.S.. Keep a close eye on the TemperatureRadar to know the latest temperature forecast.
