Headaches and sinus pain
How weather affects the body

Have you been feeling a bit headachy recently? If so, it could be because of our recent very changeable weather of sunny spells, rain showers, and thunder and lightning.

Changes in weather patterns come around due to changes in atmospheric - or barometric - pressure and temperature which according to various studies can be associated with the onset of headaches. This is because our nasal and sinus cavities change in response to pressure changes forcing fluid into tissues and leading to a disruption in fluid balance.

Changing weather conditions, such as those seen here on the WeatherRadar, can cause sinus discomfort in the body.

Headaches caused by the weather are more pronounced, however, should there be some stormy weather. This is because during a storm, cold and warm air mix together creating variations in pressure which affects our sinuses.

You can fight your headaches by drinking more fluids and reducing stress. If they are particularly bad, however, wear sunglasses to prevent any glares of light from entering your eyes and seek help from your doctor. Follow the latest weather, and keep yourself abreast of any changes where you are, with our WeatherRadar.
