Hurricane season
Typical areas for formation in June

It’s here! The Atlantic Hurricane season officially started on June 1. Let's talk about the areas we should keep an extra eye on this month and other interesting facts about the storms that form in June.

During the beginning of the season, we keep our eyes close to North America. Due to lingering energy left over by fronts and low-pressure systems, tropical cyclone formation tends to happen closer to the coast. The Gulf of Mexico, the extreme northern Caribbean, and the far western Atlantic around the Bahamas is prime territory for these storms to form.

Usually, these systems do not have lots of time to intensity, but they could be quite impactful still, producing heavy rain and dangerous floods.
