It doesn’t belong there
Gator found in South Florida Beach

When you go to the beach, a gator is probably the last animal you would think to encounter. That is just what beachgoers found in South Florida. Can we blame it on Hurricane Ian?

A gator was found taking a dip in Delray Beach on Wednesday afternoon. Beach rescuers, police officers, and a gator trapper from the Nuisance Alligator Program, contracted by the Florida Wildlife Commission worked together to capture the gator, which was then transferred to a gator farm alive.

The prehistory creature is an American gator. They usually prefer freshwaters, lakes, canals, slow-moving rivers, and wetlands but they can survive, for a short time in saltwater.

It is a common sight, after hurricanes pass through a region, to encounter animals out of their habitat. Back in 2017, after Hurricane Harvey created catastrophic flooding in Southeast Texas, there was a gator found in Galveston Beach.
