Timelapse Captures 'Karl the Fog' Rolling Over San Francisco

Beautiful timelapse footage posted to Instagram on October 20 captured fog rolling over a hilly landscape in the San Francisco area. Photographer Shreenivasan Manievannan captured the fog-filled scene with the conditions eventually clearing up enough to allow a clear view of the top of the Salesforce Tower, located on Mission Street.

The reference to “Karl” is to a popular Twitter account, which has been posted regularly for over a decade with first-person tweets titled @karlthefog. People will now regularly refer to San Francisco’s often foggy weather as Karl, and the popular parody account has been delved into by the San Francisco Chronicle and other local media outlets.
