Lake-effect swamps W. N.Y.

Arctic blast has swept across the Great Lakes, triggering snow squalls across western Michigan and the common snow belts of western N.Y.

Weather & Radar reporter Jonathan Petramala is in Hamburg, N.Y., just south of Buffalo. This area has been hit hard by heavy snow overnight, with more than 2 feet expected by the time the storm ends Friday. Travel has been impossible, with one snow plow tipping over off the side of a road after losing track of the highway in white-out conditions.

The lake effect snow can be tracked using the WeatherRadar. Weather & Radar meteorologists will be provided updated information throughout the next several days.
