Looking ahead to January
How to dispose of your Christmas tree

Tree cleanupWe're sweeping the loose leaves away for the final time as we wave farewell to this year's decorations.

You can leave the Christmas lights up through early January, but your natural festive tree may be ready to say farewell to for another year.

When the time comes, there are many options to dispose of this year’s tree. One of the easiest ways is through your local municipality. The trees are often collected for recycling to be created into mulch.

If you have a small tree, you could simply remove the decorations and chop it into smaller pieces for disposal in your regular garden bin.

It is even possible to compost a real Christmas tree, although it will take some hard work to break branches into tiny pieces.

Depending on how green-fingered you are, you could even replant the tree and never say goodbye to the festive season! Check the WeatherRadar for your local forecast before you head out to pick a nice spot.
