LA could break records
Heat wave across Southwest

An early-season heat wave that has already set a couple of records across southern California and the Southwest on Thursday continues today and Saturday. Highs are running 10 to 15 degrees above normal.

The TemperatureRadar shows afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s and low 90s throughout southern California, the Southwest and the southern Great Basin. Los Angeles, San Diego and Phoenix could all set new temperature records.

Numerous temperature records were broken on Thursday, with additional records possible on Saturday too as the hot weather sticks around into the weekend.

Looking ahead to early next week, the hot weather expands across the West, with highs in the 70s and 80s likely causing major snowmelt across the Sierras and the Rockies.
