Italy under water
Many flooded cities & dramatic rescues

The rainfall has taken on a muddy character, and the situation is extremely critical. Numerous areas of Riccione are flooded, including the ground floor of the Ceccarini Hospital. The firefighters are intervening with de-watering pumps to pump the water out of the basements.

Cesena, Ravone, and Savio, all in Italy are flooded. The ground floor of the emergency room of the Riccione Hospital is completely flooded. The serious emergency situation is widespread throughout the territory. Underpasses and bridges are blocked and impassable.

Emergency declarations are also in Ravenna, where residents are being asked to take refuge on the upper floors of their houses to escape the probable flood wave in the next few hours. In Bologna, the Ravone in Via Saffi flooded again, causing flooding in the center and the closure of the railway station.

Due to the persistent bad weather between Marche and Emilia-Romagna, railway traffic is suspended on various lines, including the Bologna-Rimini section between Forlì and Rimini and the Ferrara-Rimini section between Ravenna and Rimini.

Dramatic flooding is also in high Predappio, with the streets being invaded by water, mud, rocks, and debris. They are evacuating residents with the help of rubber boats. There is a similar situation in Cesena, where the water continues to rise, invading the first floors of the houses.

The heavy rains of the last few hours have aggravated the already delicate situation in Emilia-Romagna. Since midnight, up to 34 gallons of water per 10 square feet have fallen. The Savio River is overflowed in the foothills of Cesena.

The situation is critical, and flooding in Pesaro (the Genica flooded) and Ancona, where the storm destroyed numerous bathing establishments. These heavy rains are all courtesy of a low-pressure system traveling north over the entire Italian country, with winds above 65 mph.
