Frigid air moves in
Messy in Minneapolis after clipper

It was messy in downtown Minneapolis after an Alberta clipper brought over 5 inches of snow. Drivers struggled on a hill in the downtown area. While the snow has ended, frigid air has moved in just in time for the weekend.

A wintry mess unfolded in Minneapolis on Thursday after over 5 inches of snow fell. Drivers struggled to get up and down a snow-covered hill after the city's first big snowstorm of the season. This clipper brought inches of snow to parts of the northern Plains and Midwest.

Seeing these cars struggle in the snow is a good reminder to slow down and check the WeatherRadar before getting on the road. Our expert meteorologists have put together some tips for driving in winter weather here.

While snow is looking far more isolated on the WeatherRadar, the TemperatureRadar shows frigid conditions lingering into the weekend. On Saturday, cities like Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Chicago will stay in the teens for most of the afternoon. Warmer air will start to move in Sunday afternoon, but sub-freezing highs will stick around for many.
